I found my closet floor!

Picture Yes, it’s true, my closet floor has been missing for quite some time. The problem is the blanket of shoes that cover all of the walking space. Clearly one solution would be to stop buying shoes, but since that is a hopeless quest I decided it was time to find an organization solution.Having exhausted all the places in the house where I could put shoe racks, I needed to come up with a creative and decorative idea. And since I actually use my oven and microwave those were not an option. Here’s the before, the after, and the solution that created it!

So here is the disaster that is my closet. Mom if you are looking at this I apologize, and yes you absolutely taught me better than that!
Anyway, some of you are aghast right now and some of you are saying ‘eh’ not so bad’. In the sense that most of the shoes are upright and not in a hoarder style heap, agreed it is not too bad. From the standpoint that I have stumbled over those shoes and thru my clothes trying to get to my pants more times than I can count, it’s a problem.
So what’s the solution? Drum roll please!

After searching out a bunch of different ideas, I settled on one that had an old time-y wooden ladder that held a display of shoes. Gorge! UnNot to be dissuaded from old time-y shabby chic charm I headed to Home Depot. Yes, not exactly the forerunner of old time-y charm, but when you are desperate for shoe storage and on a shoe string budget you need to get creative. This trellis from the garden department came in a little over $18 after taxes. Deal! And should you have a purse obsession to rival your shoe collection, you can use this trellis twofold and hang some purses from it as well!fortunately my quest for ladders led me realize I would be paying a hundred dollars including shipping for an old wooden ladder. Um, no.

Here is the before and after of my closet. The floor is definitely there! Unfortunately Nordstrom’s had a sale so…looks like I’ll need a new trellis soon!

  1. I would like to follow your blog. I am making the brownies today AND the watermelon. I can hardly wait to try them. And thank you for the tips along the way like about the parchment paper. And lifting it out ahead of time before the toppings. I get so discouraged when I make a recipe and it doesn’t look even close to the picture. Thank you so much!!
