These layer bars are an act in four parts. And if you should get tired of acting after any part, you can feel free to stop right where you are! These bars are delicious not matter how you stack them!
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 16
Ingredients
  • Layer 1
  • 1½ sticks salted butter, cut into pieces, plus more for greasing pan
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cup oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • One 10 to 12-ounce jar preserves of your choice. I used strawberry.
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ peanut butter chips
  • Layer 2
  • 4 TBS butter softened
  • 1-1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 TBS preserves
  • Layer 3
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 1 TBS butter melted
  • 2 TBS sugar
  • Layer 4
  • ¼ cup peanut butter melted (I put it in the microwave for 30seconds)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-by-13-inch rectangular pan.
  2. Mix together the butter, flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Press half the oat mixture into the prepared pan. Spread with the preserves. Add the chocolate chips and the peanut butter chips to the remaining oat mixture. Sprinkle over the preserve layer and pat lightly.
  3. Bake until light brown, 30 to 40 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. Layer 2
  5. Beat together the butter and preserves, slowly add in the powdered sugar until it is thick but spreadable. Top the cooled bars.
  6. Layer 3
  7. In a food processor pulse the pretzels and sugar together. Slowly drizzle in the melted butter. Sprinkle over the frosted bars. If you are moving on to the fourth layer, cut the bars into squares now, but do not remove from the pan yet.
  8. Layer 4
  9. Drizzle melted peanut butter over the pretzel layer. Enjoy!
